Newport World Resorts' Academy for Leisure and Tourism produces new hospitality professionals
June 19, 2026
Newport World Resorts continues to strengthen pathways to employment for aspiring hospitality professionals through its education arm, the Academy for Leisure & Tourism (ALT). Recently, the Academy marked another milestone with the graduation of its fourth batch of Food and Beverage Service students and the pilot batch of the Enhanced Work Immersion Program.
During the ceremony, Newport World Resorts Executive Director Atty. Ma. Georgina A. Alvarez underscored ALT's mission of creating opportunities for aspiring hospitality professionals. "The core of ALT's mission is a simple but powerful purpose—to bridge the gap for students who may no longer have the means to pursue a college degree but still dream of building a dignified and rewarding career in the hospitality and tourism industry. Through our training programs and strong industry collaboration, we help open doors to immediate employment with trusted and reputable companies," she shared.
Many graduates have secured employment within Newport World Resorts and its global hotel brands, a testament to the school’s consistently strong employment rate since the program's inception.
The graduation also marked a significant milestone for the Enhanced Work Immersion Program in partnership with the Department of Education, Private Sector Advisory Council, and the Private Sector Jobs and Skills Corporation. Students from Raja Soliman Science and Technology High School became the first graduating batch under the pilot initiative.
Over the course of four months, students gained practical knowledge and on-the-job training across Newport World Resorts’ global hotel brands Manila Marriott Hotel, Hotel Okura Manila, Hilton Manila, Sheraton Manila Hotel, and Holiday Inn Express Manila.
The impact of the program was reflected in the graduates' own stories. Batch Valedictorian Clarince Caranza reflected on how his experience deepened his appreciation for hospitality and service.
"During my internship at Sheraton Manila Hotel and Hilton Manila, something changed in me. For the first time, I truly found myself. Habang nag seserve ako ng guests, habang nakikipag-usap ako sa iba’t ibang tao, habang pagod na pagod pero masaya, doon ko napagtanto: this is the profession I want to pursue. Because service is not a small profession. In fact, it is one of the noblest professions," he shared.
This year, ALT expanded its programs with the launch of its Housekeeping NC II program in partnership with Holiday Inn Express Manila. The program welcomed its first batch of students in May to learn essential competencies such as room preparation, housekeeping services, and linen and laundry operations, aligned with industry standards. ALT also opened over 200 scholarship opportunities this year to make training more accessible.
