Academy for Leisure and Tourism (ALT) partners with DepEd for Enhanced Work Immersion Program

Newport World Resorts’ education arm Academy for Leisure and Tourism (ALT) partners with the Department of Education (DepEd) for Enhanced Work Immersion Program. The integrated resort signed the Accession Agreement for the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Enhanced Work Immersion Program, formally joining a national pilot initiative led by DepEd in partnership with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) and the Private Sector Jobs and Skills Corporation (PCORP). The agreement positions ALT as an industry partner in providing world-class hospitality training for Senior High School students.

Under the enhanced program, the required work immersion hours for students are increased from the standard 80 hours to 420 or 640 hours, providing learners with more extensive exposure to real workplace environments. As an industry partner, ALT will deliver structured training and hands-on immersion across Newport World Resorts’ international hotel brands to support students pursuing careers in hospitality and tourism.

As part of the pilot rollout, ALT has welcomed 21 students from Raja Soliman Science and Technology High School, who will undergo classroom-based instruction and on-the-job training over the coming months.

ALT is set to open enrollment in January 2026 for a new batch of students. In addition to its TESDA-accredited Food and Beverage Services NC II program, ALT will roll out new programs in Housekeeping, Culinary, and Casino Dealing, further expanding its training portfolio to address the evolving needs of the hospitality industry. Classes will be held at the Academy for Leisure and Tourism on the 2nd Floor of Horizon Centre, Newport World Resorts.
