For those wondering what it is like working at the country’s premier integrated resort, Newport World Resorts took young jobseekers into “A World of Opportunities,” an engaging and immersive career fair held last July 18 at COL|LAB, 2F Sheraton Manila Hotel. Hundreds of fresh graduates, graduating students, and job-seeking professionals got an inside look into its workplace culture. Young aspirants had a first-hand experience of being a Thrillmaker, someone who embodies Newport World Resorts’ values.
Showcasing the exciting Thrillmaker experience in one event, Chief Human Resources Officer Terri Llamas revealed, “Our mission has always been to thrill the world every chance we get. So we make the most of this career fair by sharing our culture of work and play. We’re proud to introduce our value-driven culture, key leaders, and award-winning engagement programs that made us an employer of choice.”
While going through the interview process, candidates roamed around various halls and booths themed around the different career opportunities within the company. A maze of fun sustainability booths, interactive games, food carts, a photobooth, and world-class performances filled the venue in both morning and afternoon sessions. By the end of the day, close to a hundred applicants were hired on the spot, officially becoming Thrillmakers.
Sharing his journey going to Newport World Resorts as an example, Chief Marketing Officer David Jorden encouraged participants to be daring, interested, and curious. “As you submit your resumes, figure out what you’re interested in starting, but don't try and figure out the next ten years. Let that unfold, but be daring, interested and curious as you do.”
A major highlight in bringing a grand career fair to life, Newport World Resorts enlisted its line of international hotel brands: Hilton Manila, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Manila Marriott Hotel, Hotel Okura Manila, and Holiday Inn Express Manila-Newport City to showcase career opportunities in its booming industry. Through candid conversations, candidates connected with key leaders of these hubs of hospitality and the potential for global careers right here in the country.
