I LOVE Earth: H.E.A.R.T. in action at Newport World Resorts
February 04, 2026
As Newport World Resorts reflects on the progress achieved in 2025, it looks back on the milestones shaped through its I LOVE Earth program, a property-wide commitment to responsible hospitality. Sustainability at the country’s pioneer integrated resort is rooted in everyday action, guided by the H.E.A.R.T. framework: Healthy, Responsible, and Sustainable Sourcing; Environmental Impact; Active Benchmarking and Certification; Reform, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose; and Transform through Teaching, Training, and Engagement. This approach grounds Newport World Resorts’ sustainability work in five integrated pillars that steer how the property sources, conserves, reforms, measures, and engages.
At the core of I LOVE Earth is the work to build healthier and more responsible food systems. Through strengthened partnerships with local producers, 58.77% of total food purchases of the property were sourced locally, supporting community livelihoods and reducing reliance on long transport routes. The shift toward ethical sourcing continued across all hotels, with 87.23% of eggs now cage-free and 29.05% of seafood verified under responsible sourcing standards. The property’s urban farm sustained its role in on-site production, harvesting 397.99 kilograms of greens as of October and contributing to fresher and more traceable produce served across Newport World Resorts.
Environmental impact remained a key priority throughout 2025. From January to October 2025, Newport World Resorts’ renewable systems generated 1,491 MWh of clean energy, while engineering improvements contributed an additional 429 MWh in savings for the month of October alone. These efforts reduced operational energy consumption from 118.70 MWh in 2024 to 116.53 MWh in the same period this year. The transition to off-site renewable energy beginning March 2025 further accelerated the property’s shift to lower-emission operations.
In benchmarking and certification, Newport World Resorts marked another milestone with its fourth consecutive EarthCheck Silver Certification, reflecting the property’s consistent performance across key sustainability indicators. EarthCheck, the world’s leading environmental certification and benchmarking program for the tourism and hospitality industry, places strong emphasis on long-term consistency, requiring properties to maintain verified performance year after year.
Entering 2026, Newport World Resorts now stands closer to EarthCheck Gold certification, a distinction awarded only to properties that demonstrate five continuous years of certified best-practice performance. Strengthened reporting systems, improved data validation, and ongoing governance enhancements continue to support the property’s progression toward higher accreditation.
Circularity and reduction efforts also marked the year. As of October 2025, food waste decreased by 17.46%, supported by Winnow AI deployments in key kitchens and strengthened utilization of diversion partners. Under the Digital First initiative, the property saved 1,395 reams of paper, equivalent to 84 trees and 3.49 tCO₂e avoided, reflecting meaningful progress in operational resource reduction.
Transformative engagement further defined I LOVE Earth’s impact in 2025, as employees extended the program’s mission into surrounding communities. Through seedling planting activities, LOVE Kitchen feeding programs, relief operations, coastal cleanups, and youth-focused outreach, Newport World Resorts reinforced its belief that sustainability is both an environmental and social responsibility. Internal development initiatives, including DEI programs and education partnerships, further strengthened the property’s commitment to people and shared growth.
As Newport World Resorts moves forward from its 2025 performance, the work of I LOVE Earth continues to evolve. The path toward EarthCheck Gold certification, deeper local sourcing, expanded circular practices, and strengthened community partnerships remains clear. The progress achieved as of October 2025 reflects more than operational gains; it represents a sustained promise to act with purpose, to build responsibly, and to ensure that hospitality uplifts both people and the planet.
